Hosted by the Quadrangle interior design team for the project.
Launchpad is a first-of-its-kind facility with production facilities, technology, equipment, mentorship, learning programs, collaboration, resources, and business opportunities under one roof. The tour will show how the design evolved for one of Toronto’s most complex mixes of occupancies. Launchpad includes studios, workshops with state-of-the-art equipment, and event, meeting, and work spaces for emerging and established artists, designers, and creatives.
A single corridor, dotted with seating niches and workshop storefronts, forms a connecting street that carries light, views, power, and digital connection from one end to the other. This street links a large event space at the south end, Sugar Hall, with Artscape’s new HQ and the Commons, a social space at the north end that feels like rooms in a home. Independent concrete acoustical floor slabs allow the sometimes messy or noisy work of the woodworking, textile, fine metals, digital media, and digital fabrication studios to happen without disturbing other tenants.
This tour will highlight how the design marries creative passion with technical and business expertise to create a truly one-of-a-kind space.
