The RAIC International Prize is a unique recognition for architecture that is transformative and that expresses values of humanism and democracy. The award of $100,000 was created in 2013 by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and its Foundation together with Raymond Moriyama, one of Canada’s most notable architects, reflecting his commitment to architecture with social relevance.

In addition, three RAIC International Prize Scholarships will be awarded to students attending Canadian architecture programs.

CACB Training Session on Architectural Accreditation

The CACB-CCCA is pleased to announce its training session on Architectural Accreditation to be held in Toronto, Ontario, on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, in conjunction with the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) Festival of Architecture 2019.

The training consists of two sessions; one intended for the University Architectural  Programs and the other one for Accreditation Visiting Team Members. These sessions will provide core information about architectural accreditation and advice in preparing for and conducting an accreditation visit based on the updated (2017 Version) Conditions and Terms for Accreditation as well as the Procedures for Accre
ditation.
The two training sessions (courses) will be held in the Wellington Room, at Westin Harbour Castle, 1 Harbour Square, Toronto, ON M5J 1A6:

  • 8:30 am-11:30 am: CACB-100A: Architectural Accreditation Visits Preparation For the Architectural Programs; and
  • 1:30 pm-4:30 pm: CACB-100B: Architectural Accreditation Visits Preparation For the Visiting Team Members.

The training session qualifies for Continuing Education Learning Hours and, if requested, a Certificate of Course Completion will be provided to attendees.

The RAIC College of Fellows Convocation and Syllabus Convocation will be held at the Royal Conservatory of Music, where the College of Fellows will formally recognize RAIC members and distinguished laypersons who have made outstanding contributions to the profession. The ceremony also recognizes graduates of the RAIC Syllabus Program.

The College of Fellows will also recognize and celebrate the induction of Renzo Piano (in absentia), Vishaan Chakrabarti, FAIA, Ivenue Love-Stanley, FAIA, Elizabeth Chu Richter, FAIA and Denise Scott Brown, FAIA (in absentia) as Honourary Fellows of the RAIC.

The RAIC is delighted to announce that Bernard Plattner with over 40 years of experience working, and a senior partner, at the prestigious Renzo Piano Building Workshop, will be delivering the keynote address. This is due to the unfortunate news that Renzo Piano, due to personal reasons, will be unable to attend. Plattner will also be accepting the honourary fellowship on Piano’s behalf.

A cocktail reception will follow in the lobby of Koerner Hall.
